Program Description

Engineers find intelligent solutions to technological problems and using distinct entrepreneurial skills they are capable of coaching themselves and others. Our graduate engineers are big-picture thinkers with the ability to see complex problems from a systemic and integrated perspective.

What is the program all about?

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Leuven) involves five themes that span the curriculum. Engineering, enterprise, and education are connected to the societal role of design to improve people’s lives.

Collaboration, cross-professional experience, diversity and a plurality of world visions are crucial to the 5E engineering vision. The principles underlying the engineering curriculum at Campus Leuven create a learning and working environment that encourages ongoing personal and professional development simultaneously.

Structure

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology is an academic bachelor's program consisting of three program stages with a total of 180 ECTS.

The Bachelor’s program comprises a common program of three semesters that offer basic, scientific-technological training in the four major basic sciences: physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics. Plus a specific program of 3 semesters designed for your major of choice.

Strengths

In this program, engineering experiences are open and cross-disciplinary assignments, making you familiar with the engineering practice within different domains.

You will take on challenging projects in teams and sharpen your engineering and design skills. These experiences are presented annually in an Engineering Experiences Competition. The Faculty of Engineering Technology maintains close ties with universities around the world. At Campus Group T, more than 20% of the engineering students are international students. They represent 65 different nationalities. This network extends from Europe to China, Southeast Asia, India, Ethiopia and beyond.

Objectives

This program is an academics-oriented bachelor's in Engineering Technology. Starting from a broad knowledge of sciences and technology, bachelor's students acquire professional and academic competencies in the life sciences. They solve technical problems, governing processes and management systems. Moreover, students provide technical support to purchasing and sales services and design new products and processes. All of this is located in the field of the student's choice: construction engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, or IT-electronics. The students are capable of taking safety, ecology and care systems into account.

Bachelor's degree holders can, if they so desire, immediately start a career in the industry.

The program primarily serves as a thorough preparation for related master's programs, which aim to broaden the chosen field of study and deepen the skills acquired in the academic bachelor's program. Masters may employ the professional title of industrial engineers.

Our graduates enjoy excellent employment opportunities. They are resourceful, enterprising, inquiring, and have an open outlook as an engineer. The following fields are open to you: research and development, production, sales, services, safety and consulting within industrial, governmental, academic, and private sectors.

As an engineer with an internationally oriented education you will be well suited for a career at management level, and to implement your own business idea. Many graduates continue on to their Ph.D. studies.

During your bachelor's and master's program you can already shape your own profile by choosing a certain specialization, studying abroad (Erasmus), doing a work placement, or starting your own business.
