Introduction
Learning Science by Doing Science
A variety of educational opportunities, a curriculum accredited by the American Chemical Society, and a stimulating learning environment combined with a small student-to-faculty ratio, professor-taught classes, and diverse campus activities to make USI the perfect choice. State-of-the-art equipment and personal contact with the faculty lead to rewarding laboratory work and research. Attending seminars, and local, regional, and national chemistry meetings permit students to network early in their careers.
Chemistry serves students who wish to prepare themselves for industrial work or graduate study in chemistry as well as those who wish to satisfy the science requirements in the University Core Curriculum for the baccalaureate degree; to meet pre-professional requirements in many fields such as medicine, dentistry, engineering, pharmacy, and nursing; or to fulfill the requirements in chemistry for certification as secondary school teachers in the state of Indiana. Professional and pre-professional programs are designed to develop a strong background in the basic areas of chemistry.
