The Bachelor of Business specializing in Public Relations (PR) will develop the core skills to pursue a long-term career in this dynamic industry. Learn all aspects of PR, from strategy to communications and events, whilst developing important business skills needed to succeed in any business context.
In Year 1 the Bachelor of Business will teach you PR brief development, social media management, crisis communications, PR writing and campaign development. You will learn the role of sponsorship, leveraging advertising campaigns, crisis PR, client reporting and internal communications. You’ll prepare media material, understand mass media and learn about the importance and impact of social media in relationship building. You will learn how to work successfully in business or even set up a business of your own, through the skills gained from entrepreneurship projects.
In Year 2 you will further develop skills in public relations strategy as well as advanced business skills such as leadership, strategic management, project management and business finance. You will know how to make solid business decisions based on a thorough understanding of economic and marketing data. Two elective subjects also provide you with the flexibility to follow a specific interest.
Each year you’ll take part in our internship placement program. It is an excellent opportunity to build your professional network and whilst applying all of the practical knowledge you’ve gained throughout the course.
There is a focus on action and experiential learning including interactive presentations, industry-specific case studies, teamwork, individual assignments and real-world projects which stimulate innovative thinking. The course will encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and explore new ideas thereby helping you to develop resilience, adaptability, and self-confidence.

The Bachelor of Business degree provides graduates with a broad understanding of the key theories and principles of business operation and management, as well exposure to and experience in the practical business functions necessary to work successfully and thrive in today’s competitive business environment. Graduates will acquire an education grounded in the core business disciplines of management, business accounting, marketing, leadership, economics, and business law. They will develop an understanding of ethical business practice and the elements of good governance, how to communicate effectively, and how to manage people and to deal with change. A key element of the design of the program has been the inclusion of industry specializations and, through a well-established partnership network, the opportunity to undertake real-world business ventures and internships. Graduates can find employment in roles such as Business Development Manager, Account Manager, Festival Manager, Brand Manager, Marketing Manager, Sports Marketer, Travel Consultant or PR Consultant. The course consists of twenty-four units of equal weight and includes an internship component. A full-time load of study is four units per trimester. It is possible to complete the Bachelor of Business in a minimum of six trimesters or a maximum of twelve trimesters. The Bachelor of Business is delivered at the Sydney and Melbourne Campuses and is recognized under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
