The Department of Business Administration was established in 1976 as a component of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, Songkhla Province Thailand.
The Bachelor of Business Administration Program in Management (English) is the sixth program offered at the undergraduate level. Previously the Department has offered undergraduate business degrees in five concentrations: Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management and Information Technology Management. The Department has also offered specialized courses of study in Hotel Management and Merchant Marine. Currently, the Department has a total of 133 professors and staff and regularly has the service of a number of visiting professors from both foreign and Thai institutions.
The context for the international BBA Program is the increasing globalization of the business and trade environments. With the creation of World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1994 and the continuing economic integration of various regions of the world, the pace of globalization has accelerated.
Globalization combined with technological development and the movement towards knowledge-based economy on a global scale presents the challenge of making business education relevant to these new realities and trends. The Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences, Prince of Songkla University, has developed Bachelor of Business Administration Program in Management (English) as an international program to meet this challenge. The program is designed to serve the needs of both Thai and international student who will pursue management careers in the international business arena
Mission and Vision
The program seeks to provide students with knowledge and skills at an international standard of excellence in the following categories.
Management - Students will acquire a full complement of managerial skills in finance, marketing, accounting, human resource management and strategic management.
Communication - Students will be able to communicate effectively in English: writing, speaking, reading and listening.
Ethics and Social Responsibility - Students will develop knowledge and sensitivity with regard to the ethical, social and environmental responsibilities of managers and the organizations for which they work.
Critical Thinking - Students will develop the capacity to identify problems, assess them rationally, solve them creatively, and implement solutions effectively.
Technology - Students will become competent with information technology, develop essential skills in the most contemporary applications of technology to management and have the knowledge to adapt to future innovations.
Cross Culture - Students will understand the sources of cultural difference and the management problems and opportunities presented. Experience of cultural diversity will be gained through interaction with fellow students, local and regional field trips, and visits to multinational organizations.

In order to make a competitive application to the BBA English Program, an applicant needs to have already achieved, or expect to obtain, one of the following selection criteria with the grades shown, or another equivalent.
Selection Criteria 1: Local Thai Students
- Completing M. 6 or Grade 12 with a GPA of at least 3.00 or equivalent with a GPA of at least 3.00
- An applicant must possess a GPA of at least 3.00 of all English subjects, ever since M. 4 until M. 6 or Grade 10 until Grade 12
- An applicant shall pass the BBA interview examination
- An applicant may obtain one of these following scores (if any)
- TOEFL ≥ 500 (Paper Based Test), ≥ 173 (Computer-Based Test), or ≥ 61 (Internet-Based Test)
- IELTS ≥ 5.0
- CAE ≥ B
- FCE ≥ A
- TU-GET ≥ 450
- CU-TEP ≥ 60
Any applicants who possess an English language qualification as mentioned above does not need to take an Intensive English course of 120 hours before the semester begins.
Selection Criteria 2: Overseas/ International School Students
- Completing M. 6 or Grade 12, or the equivalent
- An applicant may obtain following requirements (if any)
- SAT score of 900 or above (US)
- GCE “O Level”, GCSE, and IGCSE with at least “C” in 5 major subjects
- GCE “A Level in 3 major subjects with at least “C”
Other equivalent diplomas from other foreign countries, must provide an approval letter of Thailand’s Ministry of Education
An applicant must pass the qualifications assessment of the BBA Administrative Committee
Please note: Even if, an applicant uses English as a first language or is fluent in the English language and one must take an academic writing course of 40 hours.
To successfully complete the BBA application processes, an applicant must prepare the following requirements:
- An application form
- Two recent photographs with a 1.5 inch of photo size (within the last six months)
- An original copy of an official transcript
- Certificate demonstrating competency in English (if any)
- 800 Baht/ USD 30 for the application fee
