Aims of Major

  • Develop students’ analytical abilities, problem-solving skills and technical competence that are useful in managerial decision-making.
  • Provide students with an integrated curriculum combining general business foundation, and advanced management topics to prepare them for managerial positions in a global economy.
  • Enable students’ to diagnose operational and business problems, develop and implement solutions for various kinds of organizations in the financial, commercial, and service sector.

  • Communicate effectively in English and Chinese.
  • Apply creative and critical thinking in solving business-related problems.

  • Demonstrate competence in applying operations management techniques and scientific problem-solving skills using specific computer software to make rational, systematic and knowledge-based business decisions and to develop feasible solutions.
  • Analyse, interpret and critically evaluate business issues and alternatives related to data, information, analytical models and/or operations management.

Our major offers suitable courses as major elective to prepare our students for entering these industries; students will be advised to select appropriate major elective courses according to their interests towards the different industries.

  • Platinum Awards – HK$100,000 to HK$150,000 each; Gold Awards –HK$50,000 to HK$80,000 each; Silver Awards – HK$20,000 to HK$40,000 each per year.

Overseas Summer Programmes

Students may participate in English immersion courses, which include components such as volunteer placements, homestays and cultural activities in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA. The other 60% of students will be allocated a major within the Department, subject to the availability of places and the selection criteria set by individual majors.
