Bachelor of Business Administration (Brussels)

KU Leuven: Faculty of Economics and Business

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is taught in English and has a strong international focus. It is both hands-on and academic. It follows a 'practice-as-orientation' and 'science-as-foundation' approach. Business Administrators are managers who can make informed strategic decisions in response to economic challenges and opportunities.

What is the 'Bachelor of Business Administration' all about?

  • Would you like to run a company or start one yourself?
  • Organise the marketing, human resources or ICT for a multinational, an SME, a non-profit organization or the Government?
  • Or would you rather develop international relations?
  • Or become a specialist in financial policy, taxation or accountancy?

You will acquire the skills to solve important business questions as well as gain considerable insight into the specific challenges corporate life is facing. Thanks to your current economic insights, your management capabilities and your language skills you are set for a promising career.

You will also carry out a cross-disciplinary management project in each programming stage. Through this practical experience, you will develop specific competencies that are important to the business administrator: entrepreneurship, problem-solving reasoning, and critical reflection. At the same time, these projects also encourage independence and team spirit. In this way, each year will be a step closer to business practice.

Structure

The BBA program is organized into five pillars:

  • Human Behaviour, Law, and Society
  • Economic Analysis and International Business
  • Quantitative Analysis and Research Skills
  • Management Domains
  • Entrepreneurship and Employability

These five tracks continue throughout the three bachelor years gradually becoming more specialized. Along these tracks, you learn the basics of business science, economics, and international business. You are coached in developing competencies you need in real-life business environments. You acquire insight into the principles of strategy, management, and entrepreneurship.

Spotlight

Truly international

Our BBA will challenge you to meet and work closely with students from other cultures and nationalities. The diversity of our program is impressive: approximately 60 nationalities are represented in the BBA program.

Business-oriented

We invite international managers and government officials to share their experiences with students at guest lectures and business seminars held throughout the year. You will acquire valuable managerial skills through business projects in each of the three years of the curriculum. Emphasis is placed on decision-making, teamwork, dealing with other cultures, time management, and effective communication.

Interdisciplinary

Our BBA's interdisciplinary approach prepares you to address and solve business problems by drawing on insights and experiences from multiple disciplines and perspectives - often as a member of a team. In this way, the BBA simulates the real world of business and leverages input from a multitude of cultural backgrounds and worldviews.

Language skills

You will graduate with an excellent command of a world language as all the courses are taught in English. Intensive language courses in Dutch, French, Spanish and German are also offered for students wishing to improve their command of a foreign language. In your second bachelor, it is even possible to follow courses in French in an exchange program with a French-speaking university in Brussels.

In the heart of Europe

Learn business where business is done! Brussels is the economic heart of Europe. As a business hub, Brussels has a central position in Europe and it hosts the EU and the NATO, as well as diverse range of international trade and finance organizations.

Brussels is where hundreds of multinational corporations have their head offices and where many important political and economic decisions are made. Your campus is in the middle of this decision-making center: a head-start for launching your career.

Centrally located

The campus is located in the heart of Brussels, only a five-minute walk from Brussels Central train station, with several metro (underground) connections in the immediate vicinity.

Studying in a metropolitan city such as Brussels is challenging. You do not only meet different cultures but get the possibility to learn and practice various languages. I chose this program because it offers an international learning environment in an international city!

International experience

The Bachelor of Business Administration is international not only in focus and content but also in terms of student population. As the language of instruction is English, students from all over the world attend, which allows for intercultural interaction on a daily basis. A number of courses can be exchanged by French-taught ones at our partner university Université Saint-Louis in Brussels.

Feel like including your own study abroad experience? The Faculty organizes a number of international study visits, for which you can apply. Or you may want to take the opportunity to study at one of the faculty's European partners during the third bachelor stage, for the first semester (or in some cases even a year). There are also some places available at non-European partners. Eligibility and selection depend on your study progress, academic results of the first bachelor stage, your language proficiency, and motivation.

If you don't want to travel too far but nevertheless want a change of scenery, you can also study at one of our Belgian partner institutions, such as the Université de Liège or Haute Ecole Groupe ICHEC in Brussels.
