The program
The tourism industry is one of the most important economic sectors globally. The number of travelers is constantly increasing and was 1.4 billion worldwide in 2019, according to the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization). Italy is benefiting strongly from this global growth trend, the turnover of tourism and its allied industries contributes 15% to the national GDP.
The tourism market combines international and cross-cultural aspects and is closely linked to areas such as event management, the hotel and restaurant industry, management of trade fairs and artistic and cultural events, sports, and health and wellness management. The size of the market, the breadth of the product range on offer, and the severe shortage of skilled workers in the industry mean that the demand for qualified middle and senior management tourism specialists is growing dramatically.
The degree program in tourism management is based on detailed observations and experiences of the tourism market. Therefore, the studies offer a special practical orientation referring to the latest trends with a specific focus on digitalization in this sector. As a member of the German Travel Association, bbw University has close contacts with the international tourism industry. As Italy is one of the world's most popular destinations, bbw has chosen Venice as the Italian location for the qualification and training of future managers in this sector.
