Build a foundation in liberal arts
California Lutheran University's Core-21 provides a solid base in the liberal arts. The multimedia core courses and classes drawn from the entire University curriculum enhance that foundation. These include classes in art, theater, music, communication, business, computer science and education.
You’ll acquire a fundamental creative, technical and administrative competency across these disciplines. You’ll develop ideas into concepts, characters and stories. You’ll acquire cross-platform computer skills and in-depth knowledge of software applications. You’ll gain essential interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude to function well in a professional, team oriented business environment.
Learn the business of multimedia
Moving beyond media literacy, you’ll understand industry theories and processes, best practices and the tools and techniques to create and develop entire media franchises. So whether your future lies in web design, film, animation, digital music, graphic design, or video games, you’ll be prepared for real world application.
Work in a brand new facility
Our new two-story, 20,000-square-foot William Rolland Art Center houses both the Multimedia and Art departments. Inside you'll find a screening room, multipurpose computer labs, and dedicated video and sound production and editing spaces. Filled with beautiful natural light, the building features high ceilings with exposed beams and ducts and many environmentally friendly features.
Developing visual educational materials for the medical community emphasizes the demand for continuing education in both subject matter and technical skills. This serves as a real world model for students as they pursue careers in service and entertainment industries.

Opened in 2017, the William Rolland Art Center provides modern facilities for the Cal Lutheran Art and Multimedia departments. This venue contains computer labs, video and audio editing suites, a cinema screening room, as well as a virtual reality and video production studio. Also included are spaces for visual arts such as painting, drawing, photography, ceramics, and sculpture. A gallery space displaying student work is located at the entrance.
This program is sound preparation for careers in a broad range of media fields including animation, concept design, computer games, creative development, digital cinema, directing, e-commerce, gaming, high definition (HD) and interactive television production, project management, Web development, and visual effects.
