Bachelor in Multimedia


Program Description

As this program is taught entirely in Portuguese, candidates must be able to speak and write Portuguese or be willing to learn the language.


The objectives of this course of study are to train graduates with the tools and skills in order to:

  • Interpret and construct with semantic rigor appropriate oral and written statements to various media and contexts, developing the ability to innovate, demonstrating creativity in different communicative situations, the ability to exercise critical and self-critical professional situations.
  • Identify notions of the Information Society, Globalization, Network.
  • Know the legislation that regulates communication.
  • Recognize the process of communication and sensory processes inherent in this, knowing and applying tools of Information and Communication Technologies.
  • Learn techniques and models in graphic design and vector.
  • Know and apply technical principles to specific areas Audiovisual Production and Direction.
  • Mastering the principles and techniques of computer programming.
  • Know and apply the theoretical principles and techniques of Photography.
  • Known theoretical principles and techniques apply Sound Effects.
  • Produce Web content.
  • Apply tools of graphic communication.
  • Learn and apply contents on virtual scenography and animation.
  • Distinguish and apply techniques of Plot / Screenwriting for Audiovisual and Multimedia.
  • Own knowledge of systems analysis and databases.
  • Understand different socio-cultural interactions in Cyberspace.

Professional Opportunities

At the end of the 1st cycle of studies degree in Multimedia, students are empowered to exercise the various new professions which guarantee the harmonious relationship between the fields of Communications, Information Technology and Design.

Entry Requirements

International candidates must fulfill one of the following conditions:

  • To hold a qualification that gives them the right to apply and access to higher education in the country where it was obtained. The document to be submitted must state the final classification and must be validated by the competent authority of that country.
  • To hold a diploma of Portuguese secondary education or an equivalent degree. The latter case requires the submission of a document that proofs the equivalence of the non-Portuguese course to the Portuguese education system, stating the final classification.

The conditions to access and enroll in the Bachelor Degree in Multimedia are covered by Decree-Law 296-A/98 of September 25, altered by Decree-Laws no. 99/99 of March 30, 26/2003 of February 7, 76/2004 of March 27, 158/2004 of June 30, 147 -A/2006 of July 31, 40/2207 of February 20 and 45/2007 of February 23, and by Decree-Law 90/2008 of May 30.


The candidature mark results from the following:

  • Final classification from Secondary School: 50%
  • Classification of the Admission Exam: 50%

  • 18 Portuguese
