The program aims to teach students the art of writing press articles and reports and how to produce professional journal articles and reports. The components of the curriculum focus on the needs of the local and regional market. The curriculum contains a practical training component which is implemented through the newspaper of the faculty of Journalism “Sahfat Al Yarmouk, which is issued weekly and functions as a laboratory for students to gain their writing and professional experience.
All new students should take the level exam for Arabic language, English language and computer skills. Students who fail to succeed in any of these exams are required to take the following extra pre-requisite course (099):

||Introduction to Communication
||This course aims to introduce the communication and components of the communicative process, forms of communication (verbal and non-verbal, direct and indirect), communication types (subjective, personal, plural, institutional , mass, civilization), and the history of mass communications in Jordan and the Arab world (newspapers, radio stations , local TV, satellite TV, the internet).The course includes the communication arts (propaganda, advertising, public relations), the explanatory theories of effects communication processes on the audience, and media systems in the world (the authoritarian media system, the socialist media system, liberal media system).
||Media Skills in English
||The course introduces students to the basic skills of journalists should learn, such as searching for the information format different sources, finding sources, and interviewing. The students will learn to find the basic information (5 W's and H) of any news story, and rules of newspaper writing; writing news introductions of different types, headlines, reformulation news, press interviews, radio news, translation from English to Arabic, and from Arabic to English. They will also learn to assess the needs and interests of audiences by using all basic information in writing a good news story. Finally, the course provides the students with the main vocabulary of mass communication
||Principles Of Editing
||This course aims to introduce students to the process of Press editing, in terms of the concept and its importance, functions and factors affecting it. The definition includes editing environment and its role in the production of the newspaper editorial (chief editor, editing manager, editing secretary, Press director), and the definition of the newspaper and how it is working, and it's department. Indicating the types of written art used in the newspaper.

||This course aims to highlight on the reality of Jordanian, Arab and international press in terms of origination, development, and foundations, by displaying forms like the Jordanian, Egyptian, and American press. And provides the electronic blogs definition, and study samples from the Jordanian, Arabic, and global electronic newspapers in terms of form and content to emulate them. The course also deals with issues of electronic media such as privacy, freedom of information, laws, and ethics of electronic publishing. The course also includes practical training on how to create blogs, and how to publish the content.

||This course aims to put forward a variety journalistic content in English that published in print and electronic newspapers. The course includes a display of press materials related to the journalism professional elements and concepts. The students could get a deep understanding of concepts with increase their vocabulary in English
||Introduction To Publications Design
||This course aims to introduce students to the concepts of press directing and it goals, trends, and principles that affecting on it. The course includes the definition of page building elements of building the page in a newspaper (Typographical and graphical), and to identify the colors, and separated tools on the page (traditional and modern).
||This course aims to give a theory overview of the photojournalism, its importance, and development in all forms of media, with the definition of providing a camera, its parts, lens and how to capture journalistic photos. The course provides the students with a training on how to use the camera, and software (Adobe Photoshop). In addition, it includes training in the use of Smartphone camera to produce journalistic photo and practice for dealing with the photo in phone applications and assigning them to prepare projects in various fields.

||This course aims to identify the modern methods in news writing and up-to-date form art that are used in writing. And the course displays the different models of the news written by modern methods and published in Arabic and global newspapers. The focus is on how to gather information, and how to form a map of different sources, interview techniques, how to tell a news story, along with the professional writing of news reports, and writing and editing news stories. The course includes practical section depends on assigning students weekly to write news, and cover the events
||This course introduces the students to investigative report and press investigative with showing the differences between them, and the course focuses on introducing students to the concept of the investigative report, its essence, inception, and evolution. ||This course aims to increase the practical work of the students, through training for eight weeks during the summer semester. This training includes different practical courses at different stages of the press production such as gathering information, editing, interviewing, investigative production, and press directing, under the supervision of the course instructor, and the editor of the Yarmouk newspaper.
||This course aims to introduce the electronic editing in terms of its concept, types, multi-templates, with analysis models for various types of selected electronic editing articles from Jordanian , Arabic, and global electronic newspapers. ||This course aims to introduce students to different ways of article translation, with a focus on the nature of news translation. ||This course aims to recognize the art of a press article in terms of its concept, origins and the evolution of its uses in print journalism. ||Legislations And Ethics Of Media
||This course aims to recognize rules and principles and ethical challenges that control the media in contemporary societies, with a focus on constitutions and media honor charters that guides, the Jordanian and Arab media work. The course also includes the identification of media legislation prevailing in Jordan, and in a number of Arab and foreign countries. And deals with a historical overview of the most important media legislation in Jordan, especially Press and Publications Law, The course focus on the most prominent law, its amendments, and the most important substances contained in those laws.

||This course aims to introduce the journalism research and its functions, goals, and steps. Also, it includes assigning students to prepare an integrated research in journalism. The student must adherence to the steps of scientific research in terms of choosing the study title , identifying the problem, writing a review of previous studies, setting goals, formulating hypotheses and questions, determining the study methodology and tools, identifying the study community and sample, collecting data and classifying it and statistically processed it , writing the result and making recommendations based on the results of the study, and preparing the study according to principles and rules of scientific research.
