Do you enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and thrive under pressure? If so, the International Hospitality Management course could be the right choice for you! This international Bachelor Programme teaches you a variety of skills and knowledge that will prepare you for a successful career in one of the biggest service industries in the world! During the first year, you learn the basics of hospitality such as marketing, finance and human resource management this is taught through Practical Orientated Learning. Furthermore, students gain their first practical experience in the 4 star Stenden Hotel that is situated on the campus. In the second year you dive into the operational management of a hotel business, step up as a supervisor in your practical module and take part in an online simulation game in which you manage a hotel property. In the third year, you cover a demanding semester in strategic management and follow two minors of your choice. You can choose minors at our campuses in the Netherlands or abroad in Thailand, Indonesia, Qatar or South Africa. This year you will be appointed as a manager of a department in the Stenden Hotel and manage a group of first and second-year students. During your fourth and final year, you will take part in a 10 month paid internship and round off your studies with the Bachelor thesis. Upon successful completion, you will be fully equipped for a successful career in the hospitality sector!

Depending on your educational background you may also be eligible for the fast track programme in International Hospitality Management which takes 3 years instead of 4 years.

The International Hospitality Management course provides graduates with a number of career opportunities such as event manager, restaurant manager and some students have even started their own companies.

Admission requirements

Academic Requirements

N.H.L. Stenden recognizes the following general international qualifications:

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or European Baccalaureate Diploma
  • High School diploma from an accredited institution
  • Four GCSE/GCE ‘O’ level passes plus two ‘A’ level passes
  • Associate, Bachelor or Master Degree

Language Requirements

All non-EER applicants are required to submit an English proficiency test with their application. Exceptions are made for students, who have had their preparatory education in a country where English is the official working and educational language. The language requirements for EER students are the same as for Dutch students. If your diploma is mentioned in this list the additional English language test is not required.

N.H.L. Stenden accepts three kinds of official language tests: IELTS, TOEFL and the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.

  • Academic IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 for each skill).
  • TOEFL 550 (paper based), 213 (computer-based) and 80 (internet based). Original test results must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Service to N.H.L. Stenden. The TOEFL institution code for N.H.L. Stenden is 9215.
  • Cambridge ESOL score CAE-C.
