International Business studies offer a great base for careers in global business. The graduates have the broad-based knowledge, skills, and competencies they can apply in various business situations.
The part-time evening studies provide possibilities to diversify students’ existing competencies and/or deepen their theoretical learning in the areas where they already have practical work experience. The core of the BBA studies consists of developing the business, being able to analyze business data and provide solutions, innovating and implementing digital solutions, building relationships and facilitating knowledge for strategic decisions.
Depending on the students’ majority choices two of the following specialization tracks are offered:
- Customer Relationship Management and Communication,
- Financial Management,
- Supply Chain Management,
- Human Resource Management.
The student can also choose supportive courses from another specialization. Career plans with sales and service orientation and entrepreneurship are strongly supported.
The variety of learning approaches, for example, problem and project-based learning, as well as cooperation with international companies, support the development of multicultural team, networking and negotiation skills. Contact sessions are usually 3 evenings a week, between Monday - Thursday at 17.40–20.30. An exchange semester, a work placement and shorter studies abroad can be included in the studies.
"My motivator to study while working full-time was to supplement my engineering background with business education. It was very rewarding to realize the constant development and achievements in both areas even though it was challenging to combine those two from time to time. Business trips and international projects with evening lectures and study tasks kept me busy and taught me to set priorities. The hectic schedule pushed me to find balance with work, study, family, friends, and hobbies.
The programme gave a good outlook on all aspects of international business. I especially enjoyed the courses and assignments on operations development and business strategies. I chose HAAGA-HELIA because I wanted to specialize in supply chain management for a global business. It was great to deepen my know-how in the field and discuss real cases with fellow students, teachers, and guest lecturers. This experience and the curriculum helped me to take the next step in my career towards leadership roles."
