Industrial design is a process of problem definition, planning and solving. Parallel to cultural, economic, political and technological movements in society, organizations serving in various sectors are in need of new approaches for creative solutions in order to determine and fulfil the ever-changing necessities for products and services. In recent years, industrial design as a collaborative, interdisciplinary, multi-interactive and creative problem-solving process has become an important factor for the success of industrial organizations. Industrial designers begin to have more significant roles in framing the interactions of users with products, services and systems.
TED University Department of Industrial Design (TEDU ID) undergraduate program embraces user-centred design approach for the betterment of life, and puts emphasis on developing creative and practical problem-solving skills of students. Moreover, TEDU ID aims to improve capacity for collaboration, teamwork and co-creation processes which are essential for designers in professional life, and to develop basic skills of design process such as user-centred research, conceptual product development for defined needs, modelling, prototyping, and evaluating the end product.
