Program Description

Students in the general business major are entering a global field where information, economics, and people collide. You will be prepared to enter and lead in a variety of industries. You will develop the skills in the role computer-based information systems play in organizations, how to assess global, domestic and industry trends and how to manage people, information, technology and more to produce goods and services. You will have a well-rounded business education touching on accounting, business law, computing, economics, marketing, and statistics.

The general business major is offered in a variety of delivery options, including:

  • St. Cloud on-campus program;
  • Online Degree Completion Program;
  • Anoka-Ramsey Community College partnership program; and
  • St. Cloud Technical and Community College partnership program in an accelerated 3-year format.

Online Degree Completion Program

The program is for students who've met the requirements for Herberger Business School Upper Division Status and are seeking an online bachelor of science degree in general business.

  • Courses are delivered by academically active and industry-experienced faculty members trained to teach the latest techniques for keeping pace with the changing business world.
  • Guaranteed course availability
    • Courses with reserved seats for the program are offered in fall and spring. Students may also be able to take online courses in the summer if seats are available.
  • The program consists of the following credits and requirements:
    • 16-22 credits of business core courses delivered completely or mostly* online
    • 27 credits of general business major credits delivered completely or mostly* online
    • Students may need some additional business core credits depending upon their previous educational background
    • Any remaining liberal education requirements
    • Any general electives needed to reach 120 credits

* Mostly online courses require proctored exams that are completed offsite.

Program Partnership with Anoka-Ramsey Community College

St. Cloud State University’s Herberger Business School has developed a program partnership with Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Students can complete a B.S. in general business with a Professional Selling Specialization through a combination of courses delivered at the Anoka-Ramsey Coon Rapids campus and online.

Students in the general business major are entering a global field where information, economics, and people collide. You will be prepared to enter and lead in a variety of industries. You will develop the skills in the role computer-based information systems play in organizations, how to assess global, domestic and industry trends and how to manage people, information, technology and more to produce goods and services. You will have a well-rounded business education touching on accounting, business law, computing, economics, finance, management, marketing, and statistics.

In addition, the Professional Selling Specialization (PSS) program will strengthen your competitive advantage as you begin and pursue your careers. The specialization will provide you with essential communication, leadership, professional selling, and sales management skills to succeed in the world of business.

Accelerated 3-Year Program with St. Cloud Technical and Community College

St. Cloud State University’s Herberger Business School has developed an accelerated 3-year business program in partnership with St. Cloud Technical and Community College. This program gives you the opportunity to complete an Associate of Science degree in Business Management at SCTCC and a Bachelor of Science degree in General Business at St. Cloud State in three years, including summers. The program allows you to graduate and begin your career more quickly.
