Program Description

Bachelor in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

Graduates of the Bachelor study program "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology" have the knowledge and all the skills to study in the follow-up master's degree programs in Electrical Engineering, Informatics or Cybernetics. They will find employment in the position of managers, specialists, and technicians in the field of electrical engineering and information technology. The graduate obtains electrical education for independent activity in electrical engineering according to valid regulations.

The Bachelor's degree program is designed to enable students to acquire mathematical and physical knowledge, the necessary theoretical and practical experience in electrical engineering and information technology, necessary for the follow-up Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Informatics or Cybernetics.

Learning outcomes and competences during the Bachelor degree program will enable the graduates to:

  • continue in the follow-up master program,
  • be specialized in practice in a short time,
  • independently conduct business in the field.

Compulsory subjects of the common block are designed so that the graduate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and overview of all major areas of electrical engineering and information technology applied in electrical engineering. By choosing compulsory optional profiling courses, the student deepens his / her knowledge of selected parts of electrical engineering and thus forms his / her professional profile. Within the study program, great emphasis is placed on acquiring knowledge for independent creative work by engaging in professional projects and thus being part of the FEE research teams. An equally important goal of the study is to prepare the graduates so that they can use professional terminology in communication, solve problems in the field, carry out research of professional literature and appropriately interpret the professional text in a foreign language.

Terms for admission to bachelor study

Applicants for bachelor study at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (FEE) coming after the high schools are admitted without admission examination after assessing the results of their secondary education and any other activities until the expected number of students is fulfilled.

Admissions are decided based on points obtained for secondary school (8 marks from profile subjects such as mathematics, physics, informatics, electrical engineering, electronics, etc.). Students who have already studied at the FEE will be evaluated mainly according to the results and course of their previous university study taking into account the study results from secondary schools.

Bonus points can be obtained for further professional activities of the student (Mathematical Olympics, Physical Olympics, Secondary professional activity, successful performance of the National Comparative Tests Scio, etc.)

A prerequisite for admission to the FEE is the completion of the high school leaving examination. Candidates who fail this examination, yet they fulfill the other eligibility conditions, may apply for post-graduate admission and enrollment after the high school leaving examination.

Foreigners applying to study in the Czech language must submit a certification of Czech language exam - level B1 according to SERR.

Faculty of Electrical Engineering is a part of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, which was established on September 28, 1991, with a history going to the year 1949. According to the main research and development activities, the Faculty is divided into five departments and one R&D center: Department of Applied Electronics and Telecommunication (KAE), Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Environmental Engineering (KEE), Department of Technologies and Measurement (KET), Department of Electromechanics and Power Electronics (KEV), Department of Theory of Electrical Engineering (KTE), Regional Innovation Centre for Electrical Engineering. In the field of educational activities, the faculty provides university education in bachelor, master and doctoral study programs. It also provides its services in the field of life-long education. In the field of research, development, and innovation, the faculty focuses on solving basic and applied research projects. The Faculty has long-term experience in solving a number of national and international grant projects and contract research projects. The Faculty has been demonstrating in the long term the ability to successfully apply the results of its research and development activities in practice - this can be documented by a number of industrial applications that have been created on the basis of long-term cooperation with significant companies beyond the Pilsen region.
