Would you like to become a school teacher?

Midway University’s Bachelor in Education programs can train you to work with young learners in elementary schools, middle schools and secondary schools across the state.

Specializations

Education (Elementary P-5)

Would you like to become an elementary school teacher?

Midway University’s Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education program can train you to work with young learners in elementary schools across the state.

Upon graduation, you will meet the requirements for certification to teach kindergarten through fifth grade in Kentucky. Through reciprocal agreements, students should be able to achieve certification in some other states as well.

Once students are accepted at Midway University, they then will need to apply for acceptance into the Teacher Education program.

Education (Middle School English 5-9)

Midway University was founded as a teacher school and has a long history of training great teachers in our teacher education program.

Education (Secondary Biology 8-12)

Are you interested in becoming a biology teacher? If so, consider earning your B.A. in Secondary Biology Education from Midway University.

Only available through our on-campus undergraduate program, this secondary education degree is designed to help you become a biology teacher who’s able to teach grades 8-12. As you move into your elective coursework, you will become well-versed in all elements of teaching high school biology. Upon completion of this secondary education teacher program, you will be ready to seek certification to be a teacher in Kentucky. Graduates wishing to seek certification in other states should contact that state’s teacher certification granting agency for information on specific requirements.

At Midway University, you can earn your secondary education degree and become an English teacher through our secondary English education major. Midway’s program is designed to help you meet the requirements to be an English teacher while learning the skills and knowledge you need to teach students in grades 8-12.

While core curriculum develops your general knowledge in the areas of critical thinking, literacy, mathematics, natural sciences, art and humanities, and the social sciences; elective coursework explores the arts of language and literature in depth. Upon completion of this secondary teacher education program, you will be ready to seek certification to be a teacher in Kentucky.

Students wishing to seek certification in other states should contact that state’s teacher certification granting agency for information on specific requirements.

Admissions Process

  • Common Application: We accept online applications on our website or through the Common Application.
  • Complete the application: Apply Online or Download Application (PDF). A nonrefundable application fee of $30.00 is required before the application can be processed.
  • Submit High School Transcript – Official transcripts should be mailed directly by the high school to the Office of Admissions or sent electronically by a secured third site (i.e. Parchment Exchange, National Student Clearinghouse).
  • Official TOEFL/IELTS/SAT scores – Midway University will accept official score reports from the testing organizations. You can submit one of the scores as part of the Application Process.
