Mission Statement

The mission of the Economics, Accounting, and Business Department is to help produce well-rounded members of the business community who understand the necessity of profit balanced by the constraints of ethical conduct, legal behavior, and risk. All four majors in our Department (Economics, Accounting, Accounting-Public, and Business) are designed to provide the tools necessary for our graduates to succeed in both the world of commerce and in graduate degree programs. We seek to challenge our students to objectively analyze economic circumstances, to construct feasible and ethical alternatives, and to make appropriate decisions that balance the welfare of the firm with the overall impact on society.

The Economics, Accounting, and Business Department mission supports the mission of Muskingum University by providing high-quality academic programs in the context of a liberal arts education. We help develop whole persons who can think critically, behave ethically, and engage socially so that they may lead vocationally productive, personally satisfying, and socially responsible lives.
