Study Content

The curriculum gives you a broad qualification profile in computer science and the basics of media design as well as the social science methods necessary for user-centered design.

Focus Areas

  • Programming: You acquire fundamental programming skills on the basis of the script language JavaScript. Building on this, you learn a high-level language for native programming on smartphones. Subsequently, the programming language C# is taught and used in the development of Augmented and Virtual Reality applications on the platform Unity.
  • Human-computer interaction: The curriculum includes essential components of the human-centered design cycle such as user research, prototyping, and evaluation. Furthermore, you learn how to develop smart devices and to equip existing objects with computing features.
  • User interface design: You acquire the fundamental principles of graphic design for interactive screen media and deepen your knowledge of the web, mobile and Augmented & Virtual Reality in a media-specific manner.

General Admission Requirements

Austrian School-Leaving Exam (AHS, BHS)

The school-leaving exam consists of three parts: 1) “pre-scientific paper” (general secondary school, AHS) or diploma thesis in a vocational secondary school (BHS), 2) standardized written exams and 3) oral exams.

Equivalent Foreign Diploma

A foreign certificate that is equivalent to one of the above-mentioned Austrian certificates on the basis of an international agreement, a nostrification of the decision of the respective UAS Academic Director may also be used as proof of the acquired general university entrance qualification in individual cases.

Berufsreifeprüfung (Austrian Vocational School-Leaving Exam, BRP)

The Berufsreifeprüfung entails the same entitlements as the school-leaving exam (AHS, BHS). The successful completion of the BRP allows students to attend a university of applied sciences (UAS). The BRP consists of 3 main subjects (German, foreign language, mathematics) and one exam of the respective technical field.
