Program Description

Read more about how Thomas More is tackling the coronavirus crisis here.

A good manager represents drive, alertness, and commercial feeling.

During your training, you will develop a thorough insight into business economics, with a broad view of the various functions within an organisation. In this programme, you choose between 2 options:

  • Major: International Business & Trade
  • Specialisation: Business for Events

You will immerse yourself in the sector that suits you best.

We bring a strong dynamic to your learning process in which you, as a student, are in constant contact with teachers, companies and your fellow students. This happens first in teaching groups, later on in integration projects, multidisciplinary projects and international internships. We're in close contact with the real business world. Because of that, we work on real projects and you are taught by professionals.

With a professional bachelor's degree in business management, you will be immediately employable in the labour market. 97% of our students find a suitable job within three months of graduating.

Something for everyone

Within the programme, you have a choice between the major in international business & trade and the specialisation Business for events. Do you already have a diploma? We offer numerous abridged programmes. Don’t hesitate to ask the programme manager of your study of choice for more information.

International Business and Trade

Do you want to work in the business with a broad view of the world, refine your soft skills and make your international dreams come true?

Upon graduation, International Business & Trade students are able to think in business models and provide insight into the economic structures of different continents. The courses train students to analyse economic data with ease and, thanks to a well-developed set of interpersonal and communication skills, make a difference in the globalised business world of the 21st century.

Overview

Phase 1

During the first year, our focus will be on building your business fundamentals through courses such as international trade, intercultural communication, global economics, marketing, and emerging markets. On top of these mandatory courses, you choose a foreign language: German, French, Spanish, Chinese or Dutch. We don't offer the language of your dreams? No problem, you can study a language of your choice with another certified language institution and we’ll add it to your diploma.

Phase 2

The first semester of your second year focuses on management skills, financial management, entrepreneurship, and emerging markets. During the 'International Project' course, second year students go abroad to a dynamic city to analyse the local culture, work on a cross-border project and look at opportunities to export a unique business model. In the second semester, you will study a semester abroad at one of our partner universities around the world.

Phase 3

Your third year consists of first-semester courses with a focus on practice and cases for real companies, followed by a second semester abroad for your traineeship. During this 3-month internship abroad, you will work on different international projects for real customers.

Practical courses

During the first year, the business game is your initial test to put the theoretical knowledge into practice. In the second year, you will get a taste of how business is conducted abroad. Finally, when you are studying abroad during the final year you’ll get immersed in an entirely different environment.

During the third year, you are abroad for 12 weeks on an international internship. Some of our partners in education offer great internship opportunities in Europe and South Africa. Flanders Investment & Trade, our preferred partner, actively hire our interns each year. They have offices all over the world, from Tokyo to Los Angeles. Where to go and what company to work for? The choice is entirely yours!

Go International

At International Business & Trade the world is small. Did you know that you can choose to study in South-Korea during your second year and do an internship in the USA during the third?

Our business school has partnered with several top-notch universities worldwide. Some of the possibilities include Quimper and Paris (France), Seville (Spain), Eindhoven (Netherlands), Vilnius (Lithuania), Budapest (Hungary), Bloemfontein (South Africa), Daejeon (South-Korea), Chile, Mexico, China, Taiwan or Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
