Your Future: Now Open for Business

Business touches upon nearly every aspect of modern society. From retail to research, advising to analysis, consulting to compliance, a career in business is more than power suits, water coolers, and briefcases — it's a world of infinite possibility where you're the CEO of your future.

On Your Agenda

Colby-Sawyer’s Bachelor of Science degree in business administration has five concentrations to help you shine in your desired area of expertise. Choose a focus in accounting and finance, general business, management, marketing or sustainable business.

Examine organizational structures, management and operation, as well as the economic impacts of the rapidly changing environment and the importance of globalization. Study the application of new technologies, best practices in teamwork, and how to build successful enterprises that focus on profits as well as ethical, humanistic and social concerns.

Build skills and apply knowledge in small classes led by professors who have extensive experience in accounting, finance and business. Get up close to the economy during field experiences on Wall Street and while managing a student-run investment fund. Increase the value of your resume with your self-selected internship, case studies, financial analyses and simulations. Partner with other business students on entrepreneurial projects through Colby-Sawyer’s award-winning chapter of Enactus. Demonstrate the depth and wealth of your knowledge through a Capstone project completed during your senior year.

The Business Administration Department also offers a minor in business administration that complements any program of study at Colby-Sawyer. The minor will help you broaden your career opportunities and gain a working knowledge of essential business principles no matter your major. For complete information about major and minor requirements and course offerings, please refer to the college catalog.

See for Yourself

Each year, along with managing an investment fund valued at more than $400,000, the Investment Management class travels to influential financial institutions in New York City including NASDAQ for the opening bell, the New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank. There’s time to take in the sights and enjoy the city, too.

The Key to Success

When you graduate from Colby-Sawyer with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, you hold the key to a successful future with unlimited opportunities. Your versatile resume — filled with hands-on classes, faculty research assistantships, case studies, simulations, field trips and internships — opens doors, impresses employers and gets you closer to the career that you’ve earned.

Internships Get You Ahead of the Curve

With the support of a faculty adviser, your self-selected, 200-hour internship means you get to choose the pre-professional opportunity that best develops your business skillset, enhances your resume and positions you for the job market.
