The teaching formats of orientation internship and practical work I, which are binding in the new approval regulations, take place at the MHB in the form of clinic days in the cooperating clinics of the MHB . In these innovative, practice-oriented teaching formats, our students have the opportunity right from the start of their studies to get to know everyday life and the interdisciplinary cooperation of various professional groups in health care on site and in direct contact with patients.
The experiences gained during the clinic days can be recorded in writing in the format of a prescribed so-called “reflective writing”. In addition, the teaching and learning method of problem-oriented learning (POL), which is based on concrete cases, is used, in which students develop theoretical and application-related learning goals in small groups based on patient stories and deepen them using content from lectures, seminars and literature sources. The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is a special oral-practical exam format. Students go through several stations in which their communication and counseling skills are tested with simulation patients.TRIKIn accompanying TRIK seminars (teamwork, reflection, interaction, communication), students then exchange experiences or learn to practice and reflect on how to deal with challenging or ethically responsible interventions. The TRIK format includes teaching in small groups with one another and with simulation patients. The focus is on acquiring and reflecting on therapeutic skills and working together in a therapeutic team under the guidance, supervision and responsibility of the instructor.Science-based and clinically orientedDuring the polyvalent bachelor's degree, the students acquire in-depth and broad knowledge in both basic subjects of psychology and in clinical application subjects. In order to be optimally prepared for work in health care and to be able to make well-founded decisions, students are also given knowledge of professional ethics and law, pedagogy, medicine and pharmacology. In scientific methodology and a research-oriented internship, they learn to assess and evaluate the research results of the subject and to develop a methodically secure understanding of research problems.Think out of the boxIn addition, they also learn to develop, carry out, evaluate and present their own research designs. In an increasingly complex world, future specialists must also be able to think, judge and act beyond the limits of their subject. Events in the context of the Studium fundamentale offer numerous opportunities to deal with aspects of philosophy, history or culture and to practice thinking outside the box.Consistent theory-practice linkThe course is aimed at students who are interested in a consistent connection between theory and practice and, in particular, the clinical side of psychology. The aim of the Bachelor's degree in Psychology (B.Sc.) is to acquire key scientific qualifications as well as psychological skills and the combination of research and application-oriented aspects. Therefore, great importance is attached to the linking of personal, interpersonal, clinical-practical and scientific research skills.

Under the motto "Personality instead of NC!" the selection of students is based on personal criteria. With us, motivation, practical experience and personality determine whether an applicant can start studying psychology and not the grade point average. A very good high school diploma increases the likelihood of a successful graduation, but it does not guarantee later empathic work as a psychotherapist. Of course, applicants with a very good grade point average can also become very good psychotherapists! In addition to very good grades, other strengths and skills are also required. And this is what is particularly important in the personal selection process.
The Medizinische Hochschule Brandenburg carries out a two-stage selection process. After reviewing the written application documents, you will be invited to a personal selection interview. Here, applicants are tested for their individual inclination and motivation as well as their skills for independent and self-determined studies.
The general university entrance qualification or an achievement recognized as equivalent by the state of Brandenburg is required as a formal university entrance qualification. Information on which achievements are recognized as equivalent can be obtained from the Central Certificate Recognition Office, State Education Office, Blechenstraße 1, 03046 Cottbus, Telephone: 0355 4866-518 or -418. The processing time for recognition can take up to 6 weeks. Otherwise, BbgHG, Section 9, Paragraph 2 applies.canditatureYour application for a degree program at the MHB is very simple using our online form.
