Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
The chemistry department is located in the top floor of the Science building on the upper campus. Chemistry majors earn a BS degree which allows them to enter graduate schools and train to obtain MS or Ph.D. degrees.
There over 800,000 trained chemists currently working in the United States. The average starting salary for BS chemists is about $40,000 per year. For Ph.D. chemists, the starting salaries average over $75,000. In addition to industrial and research jobs, many chemists pursue a career in teaching..

The dual degree program offers a great deal of flexibility to students. Students follow a course of studies similar or identical to those taken by many of our science majors, while adding certain required courses. [+]
Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics
The Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics is available only for students who complete the dual degree engineering program. Through this program, students spend approximately three years at the University of the Virgin Islands and complete the degree at a participating institution.
At the end of the program, the student receives a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of the Virgin Islands, and a Bachelor of Science in his or her chosen field of engineering from the affiliated university. A student may also opt to complete another existing UVI bachelors degree by completing all those requirements before enrolling at the affiliated university for the B. S. in engineering. The University of the Virgin Islands has agreements with Columbia University, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Florida, University of South Carolina.
