So just what is a BSc in Marine Biology? This area of undergraduate study often concentrates on animals and plants found in the world’s oceans. Students might learn how these animals and plants offer solutions for some of the problems dwelling inside of the ocean’s chemical and physical ecosystem. Instructors might also touch on other areas of biology, such as environmental sciences, ecology and physical sciences. Courses may be taught by aquatic scientists who have overseas research experience.

By completing a marine biology undergraduate program, individuals have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with marine mammals and inshore and seashore marine organisms and earn certification in scuba diving. Attaining a degree can also be a useful tool in helping students qualify for job positions and embark on a career in or related to marine biology.

Just like the tide, the cost of earning a BSc in Marine Biology changes according to geographic location, the duration of the program, and whether the individual chooses traditional or distance learning. It’s best to get in touch with the admissions office for the most up-to-date info regarding tuition, book fees and scholarship opportunities.

Graduates of marine biology bachelor’s degree programs often go on to work in consultancy organizations around the world and private as well as government labs, such as Environmental Protection Agencies. Job opportunities outside of the science arena include finance, management, tourism and computing. Those who wish to go into senior research usually have to first complete a master’s degree or PhD program.

Dive into an ocean of possibilities by earning an undergraduate degree in marine biology. Search for your program below and contact directly the admission office of the school of your choice by filling in the lead form.

Marine Sciences is a highly interdisciplinary field requiring an understanding and application of basic science, including biology, physics, and chemistry. In particular, the Marine Sciences major provides students with a solid background in basic biology as well as in the physics and chemistry of the ocean. Upper-division electives permit each student to gain a deeper understanding of particular groups of organisms (microorganisms, algae, marine invertebrates, fish, and marine mammals) and of habitats (salt marshes, rocky intertidal, barrier islands, dunes, estuaries, and the open ocean). -
