A BSc degree can help students enhance their career prospects and earning potential. Also referred to as a Bachelor of Science, this degree is often completed in a few years and can provide students with a strong foundation in a particular subject.

Students may choose to pursue a career in environmental science if they enjoy learning about the natural world. What is a BSc in Environmental Sciences? This versatile degree is often a combination of biology, science, chemistry, geology and mathematics. Environmental scientists are usually analytical problem-solvers with a passion for helping people and the planet. This degree is versatile, and there are many sub-fields in which to specialize such as soil science, wildlife conservation, environmental consulting or even as waste remediation.

By earning a BSc in Environmental Science, students can hone many professional and general life skills, such as critical thinking and communication. In addition, students may choose to specialize in a particular branch of environmental science and become knowledgeable in fields such as oceanography, meteorology or horticulture.

The cost of earning a Bachelor of Science degree varies by school. The number of credits taken per semester can affect the cost, and a BSc degree can be earned by attending part-time or full-time. Once the degree is earned, students can look for employment in a variety of fields. Some students may choose to work in the private sector as compliance officers, environmental analysts or project managers. Other job titles may include wetlands specialist, field technician, meteorologist or aquatic technician.
