The definition of the word “chemistry” has evolved over the course of its study and practice. Most agree that the term is a derivative of the word alchemy, which was an ancient practice that combined both mysticism and medicine. One who practiced alchemy was known as an alchemist.
The United States of America is a large country in North America, often referred to as the "USA", the "US", the "United States", "America", or simply "the States". American colleges are funded by "tuition" charged to the student, which is often quite expensive, very commonly reaching into the tens of thousands of dollars per year.

Chemistry: The Central Science
“Chemistry: The central science.” That phrase, popularized in a 1977 chemistry textbook, refers to the link that chemistry provides between the physical sciences, mathematics, biological sciences, and the environment. Chemistry and biochemistry play a fundamental role in our everyday lives—from the air we breathe, the water we drink, and soil we walk upon to the food we eat, the medicine that improves our health, and the clothes we wear....

Like mixing things up in the lab? Do you enjoy finding out what something is made of? It's all about chemistry, you know. And that's where our major in chemistry comes in.
As a chemistry student, you'll work with the latest equipment and software. Equipment like the Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectrometer. It provides a “fingerprint” identification for unknown compounds. You'll get to use Wave Function software for Computational Chemistry that visualizes the structure of complex molecules. You can also write and present research findings at national meetings. Maybe you'll get it published.
With your chemistry degree, you'll have lots of career options. You can go to work at places like American Refining Group, Bristol Meyers-Squibb or Eli Lilly. Or, you can go to graduate school. Our graduates have gone on to Penn State University, Indiana University and the University of Nebraska....
