Prerequisite: Completion of an Associates degree with specific core courses completed with a minimum grade of C or better. If you are an El Paso Community College student, please consult the current Articulation Agreement. If you are transferring from another university or community college, please consult with our Academic Advisor Jeffrey Litchfield, to discuss articulation requirements. The Director of the Texas Tech University Architecture Program in El Paso, Dr. Robert Alexander González, must approve all final course transfers.
Enrollment: While students are not required to enroll in a certain number of courses each semester, and completion time can vary by individual, some courses serve as prerequisites for future courses and many are taught sequentially. Consult the catalog listing for the College of Architecture for prerequisite information. Full-time enrollment is highly recommended, and enrollment in the design studio is required.
Calendar: Semester-based courses run with Texas Tech University's Academic Calendar. Please consult the calendar for university course start and end dates, add and drop deadlines, holidays, and exam periods.
Admissions: New students may only enroll in the summer for Fall enrollment. We do not accept new students into the program during the Spring semester. Please consult the Application Process tab above for further information.

This program trains students to apply their complex knowledge in the areas of architecture and urban planning, as well as in the multi-faceted field of environment formation in general (architectural design, town and country planning, preservation of built heritage, structural design, construction work, management and administration tasks, consulting with authorities, teaching, etc.) In addition, students are prepared for their professional planning license once they have gained the prerequisite practical experience as required by the relevant regulations. The final complex design project and the diploma design project are a summary, a synthesis of their studies and serve as a final assessment of their acquired knowledge. During training, studies are complemented by Scientific Students' Conference projects prepared with the co-operation of students and tutors (the latter also being in charge of supervising their work). Within the professional field of architecture, students acquire individual expertise in a specific field and can apply for admission to the DLA&PhD degree program based on their specialization.
