On the bachelor program, you can choose to focus on Mechatronics Engineering or a profile in either Mechanical engineering, Electronics engineering, or Embedded systems.
First job guarantee
As an engineering student at SDU Sønderborg, you are guaranteed your first job when you finish your MSc studies (applies for students starting from September 2020).
Smartphones, cars, and digital cameras - most people know how to use these things. But there are many tasks to be accomplished before you have the product in your hand. It requires an engineer who can connect mechanics, electronics, and software - namely, a mechatronic engineer.
The study program is in English and enables you to develop high tech industry products.
Through project work, you will gain various skills in the field of product development, which in addition to technical design also comprises marketing and production. This combination prepares you to work in technical product development and later on to be a team leader in a research and development department.
During the study program you have the opportunity to specialize in either a multidisciplinary profile, a profile in Mechanics, a profile in Electronics or a profile in Embedded systems:
Profile in Mechanical engineering
Profile in Electronics engineering
Profile in Embedded systems.
You can continue your profile on the master's program.
The bachelor program is a three-year program where you will learn about user-oriented creativity, innovation, and business. Read more about that under the structure of the program.
After the first three years, you study for two years at the master level to get the full MSc in Engineering degree. At the master's program, you can focus on the academic fields that interest you the most.
The BSc in Engineering (Mechatronics) lasts 3 years (6 semesters) after which you can start the master's degree.
Each semester is based on the main theme which will be the focal point for the semester's theory and project work. From the very beginning of the study period, you will be part of a project group working with projects which often use problems faced by companies as a starting point.
Before you start the study program you have the opportunity to undertake a get-started course in maths which takes place in August.
With a degree in Mechatronics, you will typically attract companies that develop intelligent products with considerable technology content.
In the video below, you will meet José who has a degree in Mechatronics from SDU. He now works at Danfoss Power Solutions.
You are qualified for jobs as, for example:
Development engineer, e.g. with managerial responsibility
Specialist in specific technologies
Consultant or customer adviser
Researcher at universities in Denmark or abroad
Entrepreneur with your own company.
