The Civil Engineering program is the oldest of the engineering disciplines, bridging across many technical specialties that are not independent, but rather interact with each other.
Graduates of civil engineering will be able to plan, design, construct and maintain the physical and naturally built environment including buildings; roads; bridges; airports; railways; ports; water distribution and wastewater collection systems; waste disposal facilities; tunnels; stadiums; offshore structures; dams; and other infrastructure projects. Students enrolled in this program will develop their skills, advance into the area of engineering management, and oversee the completion of the whole project.
Additional opportunities to enhance professional development include industrial training; field visits; presentations by practicing engineers; involvement in research projects and competitions; participation in the ASCE Student Chapter; and participation in students’ exchange through the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Expertise (IAESTE) Program.
This program works towards Qatar reaching the goals of the 2030 vision. The program is open for males.
Admission requirements vary based on the application type (new, transfer, visiting, or non-degree applicants). Please contact us for further information about admission requirements.

Graduates will contribute effectively to the civil engineering profession and to society by mastering communication skills, using ethical practices, and pursuing lifelong learning.
Graduates will provide the public and private sectors with professional and innovative solutions to civil engineering and interdisciplinary problems.
Qualified graduates will be prepared to pursue advanced studies if they so desire.
As a result of the continued growth of the College of Engineering, the college made a strategic decision, in line with Qatar University’s strategic plan, to start a systematic process for quality assurance of all its engineering programs. Such a process involves applying the standards used by the American Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). ABET is a highly recognized and internationally respected accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. ABET has set the higher-educational standards in its field for nearly 75 years.
To ensure the quality of our Civil Engineering Program, we solicit feedback from our students, faculty members, alumni, and the Industrial Advisory Board. The Civil Engineering Program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission; EAC of ABET, http://www.abet.org. This is a testimony and a reflection of the quality of our program.
