BSc (Hons) Computing Science
On this course, you will learn about the fundamentals and science behind computing, and you will develop the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in this ﬁeld.
Although the range of jobs within the IT industry has diversified greatly in recent years, there remains a core knowledge base that is central to many specialist areas within the ﬁeld of computing. The underpinning discipline of computing science has itself evolved over the years, but remains a major route into the profession, particularly for those seeking a technical orientation.
This course will provide you with a key set of skills in the theory, practice and efficient application of computers in relation to the changing and challenging environment.
We encourage you to take part in related work experience alongside your studies to provide you with an enriched learning experience. This experience can take the form of an internship, a sandwich year, part-time, or voluntary work. We aim to help every student gain this experience while studying this course.
Career and study progression
After completing this course, you could start one of many rewarding careers, such as interaction designer, software architect, software engineer, systems analyst or web developer.
If you graduate with a 2:2 honours or higher, you will have the entry requirements to pursue a Masters degree in one of the following:
- Computing Interaction Design
- Information Management
- Information Systems
- Intelligent Computing Systems
- Network and Mobile Computing
- Software Engineering.

Please note fees are paid for each year of study; you will be required to re-enrol and pay fees at the beginning of each academic year. Fees may be subject to an inflationary increase each year.

You will need 280 UCAS points or equivalent qualifications at Level 3, normally in a minimum of two subjects, plus a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
We may ask you to attend an interview before we make you an offer.
International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.0 or above and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening), TOEFL ibt at score at 76 or above, Pearson PTE Academic at score 51 or above or an equivalent secure English language test. In some countries where teaching is in English, we may accept local qualifications.
