After completing secondary education or high school, you can study for a BA to learn more about a chosen subject in the arts, social sciences or humanities. This degree usually takes three to five years to finish and includes some general liberal arts studies.

So, what is a BA in Massage Therapy, anyway? Massage therapy is a medical treatment typically used to ease pain, so studying this subject means you can learn about pain management and certain medical conditions. For a bachelor’s degree, there is generally no prerequisite of medical experience or knowledge of physiology, but these can make your study easier. Other medical conditions you may learn about include cancer-related fatigue, poor immune system function, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia.

Useful life skills you may learn during this course of study include compassion, empathy and improved physical stamina. Compassion and empathy can ease tense situations and make you more comfortable in social settings. More stamina can help you complete tasks requiring endurance and willpower.

The cost of a bachelor's degree varies depending on school, subject and length of study. Other factors include whether you can find used books, the availability of online courses and the kinds of awards and scholarships you are eligible for.

Massage therapist is the most common job title you can pursue with a degree in massage therapy, but the kind of massage you perform and the kind of patients you treat may vary. Depending on your goals and the skill set you develop, you could look for work as a massage therapist to cancer patients, the elderly or injured athletes. Other job titles you can search for include chiropractic assistant and advanced deep tissue therapist.

To find a massage therapy program, first narrow down where you want to study and any other factors you deem important. Search for your program below and contact directly the admission office of the school of your choice by filling in the lead form.
