Program Description

The Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance at the University of Regina is an environment of diverse artistic expression and study. Our supportive and collaborative environment helps develop the artistic mind. Our faculty members are dynamic working artists and scholars with international experience. We offer a well-rounded, broad-based education that supports your art practice and study. Our bright, vibrant campus is equipped with modern facilities.

Develop your distinctive voice in your chosen artistic medium or studies area. We offer a wide variety of undergraduate degree programs and two certificates. You will benefit from our small student/teacher ratio. We also offer graduate programs.

The Faculty has four departments: Film, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts. We also offer programs that cross disciplines, such as Creative Technologies and Interdisciplinary Studies. Here, you have the opportunity to work across disciplines and make your own path.

Concentration

The BA degree in Media, Art, and Performance major comprises at least 120 credit hours. Students choose an area of concentration in Art History, Creative Technologies, Cultures of Display, Pop Culture, Film Studies, or Music. There are also 4 year BA degrees available with either a Theatre or Performance Major - Acting or Theatre Design/Stage Management concentrations, or a Visual Arts major

Creative Technologies

Fuse your creative and technological interests in a program designed to prepare graduates for this exciting emerging field. Enhance your creativity with the power of technology in this innovative program that is unique in the province.

Creative Technologies is an interdisciplinary program, linking technology, new media, music, and visual arts. More and more, students and professors are working outside of their traditional creative studies areas. In this program, you will learn to think about technology and the arts in new ways, while working with and studying new media.

The bachelor is an interdisciplinary program that is unique in the province. It is an emerging area of study that brings together artists, scientists, and cultural theorists. It includes a variety of courses from the areas of fine arts, computer science, engineering, and new media, with additional theoretical material drawn from media and communications studies.

Creative Technologies is an opportunity to expand your horizons. Our courses encourage collaboration, experimentation, and lateral thinking. The program combines imagination and innovation in the changing technological landscape. In our Creative Technologies program, technology and art collide to create something new.

Graduation Requirements

A student's PGPA for graduation purposes will be calculated only on those courses are taken at the University of Regina that form part of the degree (i.e., failed courses, extra courses, and transfer credits are not included). Courses that are required to be taken at another institution as part of a University of Regina program will be treated as the University of Regina courses.
