Are you considering a career in finance? Depending on your career aspirations, the Offutt School of Business at Concordia College has created a one-of-a-kind undergraduate experience. We combine cutting-edge curriculum with practical real-world experience. You can become involved with one of our student-managed funds to gain a real appreciation for what a career could become.
We have two degrees that provide maximum flexibility to you – the student. For those who know they would like to go into finance, you can major in finance. Options include a *CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) track, which is intended to prepare young men and women for the CFA Level One exam. This curriculum covers approximately 80% of the Candidate Bank of Knowledge, as prescribed by CFA institute guidelines. In their junior year, students seeking this degree can apply for the Certificate in Finance. Acceptance into this program gives students credibility as well as an internship and an individually selected mentor. The major has six required finance courses, as well as two electives.
For those students who are interested in finance, but as an add-on to an additional degree, the Offutt School offers a business major with a concentration in finance. This degree has two required courses and three electives. Although the requirements are less than the finance major, the concentration is comparable to many finance majors at other four-year institutions.
Want to include an international focus? During the 2015-16 academic year, we will offer a one-week Exploration Seminar, "Business and Commerce in Switzerland." Spend a week in Zurich, Switzerland, meeting business executives, newer employees, and interview for summer internships. In May 2016, we will offer an opportunity to spend two weeks in London visiting businesses and governmental regulators. You will be able to compare the U.S. Federal Reserve with the Bank of England. Internships are also being developed in businesses as well as governmental regulators.
