BA Hons in Latin

General

Program Description

In this course, we work with the Latin language, literature, artifacts, philosophy, history, and religion. Not only do students develop their own analytical skills by participating in this course; they also understand the ways in which we as human beings give meaning to our existence through the use of symbols and complexes of symbols which come to us from ancient times.

All documents are read in the original language, supplying students with the ability to interpret inscriptions, texts, and artifacts in a reasoned manner. An appreciation of the influence of Latin on modern English is also developed.

Admission requirements

Latin 3A and 3B are required for admission to this programme. A reading knowledge of German and/or French is recommended.
