BA (Hons) International Business (with German)

With today’s challenging market you will need something different to stand out from the other graduates. At the Nottingham Business School we offer an International Business (with German) as a specialist dual award course.

Accredited by both Nottingham Business School and EBS Universitat für Wirtschaft und Recht (just outside Frankfurt), this dual award course provides you with an exciting three year course helping you understand European and global business environments and the opportunity to develop your German language skills by studying abroad and spending time on an internship.

Demand is high for international management know-how and for graduates with a broad-based international business education. This is due to the growing economic independence between nations and the efforts of many companies to build a global presence.

This course will develop you into an attractive graduate with excellent prospects by providing you with strong academic foundations, real-world experience and outstanding language skills.

As the course is dual award you will graduate with a BA (Hons) International Business (with German) from NTU, and a Bachelor in General Management - International Business Studies from our partner institution EBS Universität für Wirtschaft.

The course can be studied over three years full-time where you will spend 18 months at Nottingham Business School and 18 months at EBS Universität für Wirtschaft (including a three month placement in Germany or with a German-speaking company).

How you’re taught

On average you will receive minimum 12 - 15 hours of teaching per week from a combination of lectures and seminars. You'll then be expected to increase your understanding of the subject area through independent study for each module.

We use a mixture of teaching methods including traditional lectures and seminars, IT workshops, guest lectures, problem-based learning and group discussions. In addition to this you will also be involved in a variety of practical work such as individual and group presentations, student-led seminars, role play, industry-sponsored competitions and project work.

These are included to help you develop a range of practical skills such as time management, effective presentation, communication, customer focus, analytical, entrepreneurial and team working. All students will attend lectures and seminars at NTU’s City site, in the impressive Newton Building, home to Nottingham Business School.

You will also have a number of one-on-one tutor sessions during each year, which will allow you to:

  • Discuss your personal and professional development.
  • Discuss and gain feedback about your work.
  • Ask questions about the projects you're working on.
  • Raise any difficulties you are experiencing relating to your work, personal circumstances or your University experience.

You'll also use our virtual learning environment, NOW, which is a flexible web-based system that gives you 24-hour access to module learning materials and reading lists. It allows you to discuss work with tutors and submit coursework electronically from anywhere in the world.

Through our personalised approach to learning we will provide you with a uniquely individualised experience to help you be the best you can be. We will help you to understand and reflect on your own experiences, to explore your aspirations and to create your own development plan. It’s about supporting you to understand your needs through the use of diagnostic tools and to design and implement an approach to learning that is personalised to you. You’ll also be able to take advantage of all of the fantastic opportunities associated with studying at our University. This includes volunteering, studying abroad, internships, placements, international summer schools and many more.
