BA (Hons) Business Management and Entrepreneurship

This course equips you with the knowledge and skills to do so, as well as some exciting entrepreneurial opportunities along the way. Whether you want to end up working for a successful business or running your own, this degree will give you the knowledge and skills you need.
This course provides you with an understanding of the theories and practices of entrepreneurship and innovation in a variety of organisational contexts. These range from new business ventures and small businesses to not-for-profit organisations and large established corporations.
You will have the opportunity to explore the nature of entrepreneurial behaviour and develop your entrepreneurial skills. All students will take part in a business simulation task, imitating the experience of running a business with a group of fellow students.
All Entrepreneur students will have access to ‘The Hive’ a purpose built centre dedicated to helping turn business ideas into reality. So if you have a business idea, get in touch and see how they can help you.
During your second year you have a variety of unique opportunities to get involved in such as studying abroad, enterprise project, community project, internship or simply continue with your studies. The course can be studied over three years full-time or four years with a placement.

How you’re taught
On average you will receive minimum 12 - 15 hours of teaching per week from a combination of lectures and seminars. You'll then be expected to increase your understanding of the subject area through independent study for each module.
We use a mixture of teaching methods including traditional lectures and seminars, IT workshops, guest lectures, problem-based learning and group discussions. In addition to this you will also be involved in a variety of practical work such as individual and group presentations, student-led seminars, role play, industry-sponsored competitions and project work.
These are included to help you develop a range of practical skills such as time management, effective presentation, communication, customer focus, analytical, entrepreneurial and team working. All students will attend lectures and seminars at NTU’s City site, in the impressive Newton Building, home to Nottingham Business School.
You will also have a number of one-on-one tutor sessions during each year, which will allow you to:
- Discuss your personal and professional development.
- Discuss and gain feedback about your work.
- Ask questions about the projects you're working on.
- Raise any difficulties you are experiencing relating to your work, personal circumstances or your University experience.
You'll also use our virtual learning environment, NOW, which is a flexible web-based system that gives you 24-hour access to module learning materials and reading lists. It allows you to discuss work with tutors and submit coursework electronically from anywhere in the world.
Through our personalised approach to learning we will provide you with a uniquely individualised experience to help you be the best you can be. We will help you to understand and reflect on your own experiences, to explore your aspirations and to create your own development plan. It’s about supporting you to understand your needs through the use of diagnostic tools and to design and implement an approach to learning that is personalised to you. You’ll also be able to take advantage of all of the fantastic opportunities associated with studying at our University. This includes volunteering, studying abroad, internships, placements, international summer schools and many more.

Our BA (Hons) Business Management Joint Honour courses and BA (Hons) Business course have a Dual Award status with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). In addition to your degree you will also gain a CMI qualification.
You will need one of the following:
- A-levels – BBC, excluding General Studies
- BTEC Extended Diploma – DMM
- 112 UCAS Tariff points from three A-levels or equivalent qualifications, excluding General Studies.
You will also need GCSEs – English and Maths grade C.
