During your undergraduate studies, you’ll gain real-world experience. As a member of the NSU Dance ensemble, you’ll have a number of opportunities to perform, while masterclasses and visiting professionals inspire you to explore new modes of communication through movement. You’ll also have a chance to participate in the annual Season of the Arts to perform original choreography in a variety of styles.
Additionally, NSU students enjoy exciting internships. Some companies and organizations that students have interned at in the past include The Walt Disney Company, Broward College, Coral Reef High School, Alma Dance Theatre, Dance Now! Miami and Augusto Soledade Brazz Dance Theatre.
Program Outcome
The dance major provides students with an understanding of how dance fits into a larger, global context and helps students develop in several areas: technical proficiency, historical and cultural perspectives, personal artistry, and production skills. Through dance technique classes, rehearsals, and a range of performance opportunities, you'll gain the experience and training needed for a successful career in dance. As a dance major, you’ll also learn the behind-the-scenes process of putting a show together and get the opportunity (in choreography and dance composition courses) to develop your unique voice as an artist.
