Coe College is a selective, private, nationally recognized four-year coeducational liberal arts institution providing superior educational experiences for students since 1851. Coe's residential campus is located in Cedar Rapids - Iowa's second largest city - and only hours from several major cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha, and St. Louis. Coe is recognized as one of the most selective colleges in Iowa in terms of selectivity for admission, based on average ACT scores, percent of students in the top 10% of their graduating class, and percent of students in the top 50% of their graduating class. Coe is also one of only 283 institutions with a Phi Beta Kappa Chapter in the country. Phi Beta Kappa is the most distinguished honor society and colleges selected for the honor are selected on the basis for academic excellence.
The attractive Coe campus, located near the center of Cedar Rapids, has doubled in size in recent years with the addition of new apartment-style residential facilities. The campus features a newly renovated dining hall with multiple food stations and an expanded Stewart Memorial Library. In addition, Peterson Hall of Science underwent an extensive $13 million renovation that was completed in 2013, creating new classrooms and laboratories for Coe's outstanding science programs. A $3 million renovation and expansion of Hickok Hall (home of the humanities departments) will be completed in August of 2016. Coe’s athletic and recreation complex is in the midst of a $20 million renovation and expansion project to be completed in the fall of 2017.
