In Portugal, Instituto Piaget develops higher education activities through its Jean Piaget Higher Schools of Education (ESE JP), Jean Piaget Higher Schools of Health (ESS JP), one Jean Piaget Higher School of Technology and Management (ESTG JP), and University Institutes (Superior Institutes for Intercultural and Transdisciplinary Studies – ISEIT). The Schools and the Institutes are grouped into Academic and University Campuses of Almada, Santo André, Silves, Vila Nova de Gaia and Viseu.

A degree in Basic ESE Jean Piaget Education is directly related to the mission, tradition and formative experience of the institution, which form educators and teachers for more than 25 years. This degree is suitable to the provisions of Decree-Law No. 79/2014 of 14 May, having had the approval educational objectives: The 1st cycle of studies in basic education aims to provide students with: knowledge and understanding capabilities in the area of ​​training, supporting them in teaching materials; collection of skills, selection and interpretation of relevant information to the training area, which, in turn, may support the proposed solutions and formulated judgments, and include in this analysis the social aspects, scientific and relevant ethical; problem solving skills, and build and support a very professional opinion; skills sharing and communication of information, ideas, problems and solutions, either public made up of experts or non-experts; skills and abilities necessary for successful pursuit of learning throughout life with a high degree of autonomy. Employability: Graduates in Basic Education will perform the following functions: Follow-curricular activities and curriculum enrichment; Monitoring of extracurricular activities; Support for school integration of children between 6 months and 12 years old; Development, evaluation and dissemination of teaching resources; Participation in educational projects, teaching innovation and research; Development and dissemination of cultural training resources; Secretariat in educational settings; Distance Learning for people in mobility. This study cycle also allows for access to the 2nd cycle of studies in pre-school education; Teaching the 1st cycle of basic education; Preschool Education and Teaching of the 1st cycle of basic education; and education of the 1st and 2nd cycle of basic education, which enable to carry out teaching in the areas and respective levels of education. For the completion of the 1st cycle of studies in Basic Education, students completed a curriculum consisting of 180 credits required ECTS.
