Pedagogue assistant’s practice(1)
During their first practice of assisting a pedagogue, students will gain their first professional experience through observing the pedagogue’s work and communicating with children, pedagogues and other participants of the educational process.
Pedagogue assistant’s practice(2)
Students will be active participants of the pedagogic interaction with children and their parents while assisting a mentor.
Pedagogic practice with the help of a mentor
During their practice with the help of a mentor, students will gain practical skills of providing legal protection to children with special needs and disadvantaged children; learn how to integrate, differentiate and individualise the educational process with regard to children’s varying needs, abilities, and learning styles. Together with their mentor will analyse the evaluation of children’s achievements. Students will improve their professional experience of reflection, gained during the study process, as well as evaluate and plan the improvement of their professional competencies.
Individual pedagogic practice
During this practice, the student will work together with their mentor as partners: coordinate work activities, suggest innovative educational methods. After completing child observation, students will shape the educational content, form short-term educational plans, try various educational methodics, evaluate their effectiveness, and gain better skills in evaluating children’s achievements. In order to develop their communication and partnership competencies, students will present their experiences to the educational institution’s community.

Final evaluation: Thesis work. While writing their thesis, students will exhibit knowledge, abilities, and values acquired during their studies.

Students will know: the basics of pre-primary pedagogy; education policy guidelines; connect various pre-primary education aspects, such as philosophical, pedagogical, psychological, sociological, intercultural and administrative; analyse specifics of pre-primary and primary education; describe the developmental aspects of children from birth to 7 years old, methods of recognising their needs, specifics of the educational process and its management, the importance of reflection and its strategies, factors that decide the quality of education, will know how to apply their knowledge in various environments; will reflect on the educational content, will be able to detect problems in the educational practices, solve them through research and use of research results in professional improvement, find and apply methodic innovations, will be able to make decisions based on proof; will write administrative texts using contemporary methods of collecting, gathering, analysing, systemising, and visualising information; will respect the child’s individuality; will recognise and consider differences in individual children (from birth to 7 years old) that are connected to their age, experience, gender, language, social environment, abilities, special educational needs, learning style and other aspects, will help them overcome educational challenges, will help parents (guardians) get consultations and provide pedagogic help, collaborate with educational help specialists; will anticipate and realise goals and tasks of child-oriented education, plan and evaluate children’s achievements, apply methods of education through games, activities, and experiences, will independently create, model, improve integral educational content. GRADUATES WILL BE ABLE TO
Supervise and educate children from birth to 7 years old, following the modern understanding of childhood: respect for the child and acceptance of active children in education; accepting children and their parents (guardians) as equal participants of the educational process; create a safe environment, favourable to every child’s growth, play-time and education, following the positive and supportive outlook on children, understanding the importance of discovering children’s potential; create and implement pre-primary education programmes together with children and parents, while creatively integrating the educational content and process; individualise education following the guidelines of inclusive education, taking into account every child’s experiences, needs and interests, abilities, learning style, gender, character, special educational needs, language (multilingual family), and socio-cultural environment (disadvantaged, migrant, and other); use games and other innovative methods in the educational process that would help every child fully reveal their potential in various pre- primary education activities; observe children, reflect and evaluate their advancement, plan the educational process in accordance with every child’s educational needs; plan one’s own activities, reflect on them, complete practical research while selecting adequate research strategies and methods, develop one’s professional knowledge and abilities, share one’s experience with colleagues and parents, and in constructive partnership with other participants and specialists of the educational process; work in a team: participate in projects, activities in professional circles, educational and social change processes.
Graduates will be able to work as pre-primary pedagogues in private and public kindergartens, schools, infant and child caring centres, children’s social care homes, informal education centres and other.
