Transport and Telecommunication Institute

Transport and telecommunication institute (lat. Transporta un sakaru institūts – TSI) – is a modern university with the almost centennial history. TSI – is the university-successor of the legendary RKIIGA (Riga Red-Banner Civil Aviation Institute) and RAU (Riga Aviation Institute).

In the present-day appearance TSI was established in 1999. Nowadays TSI – is the only one private technical college university type in Latvia, where you can get higher education in Russian, Latvian and English languages. The Institute received permanent accreditation in Latvia as a higher education institution. Other official documents of TSI you can find here.

Since 2003 successfully operates Latgalian branch in the second largest town in Latvia – Daugavpils.

The Institute provides with the academic programs in the following directions: transport and logistics, computer sciences, electronics and telecommunication, economics and management, aviation transport. In June 2013 all education directions of TSI received accreditation for the maximum period – 6 years.

In TSI you can get higher professional education of first and second levels, bachelor and master degrees, prepare and defend a doctoral dissertation.

TSI is conducting the diversified research scientific work. According to the results of expert evaluation Transport and Telecommunication Institute is the only one among private colleges included in the list of leading scientific institutions, acting in Latvia. Also this year, in the rating of “Latvijas Avīze”, TSI achieved excellent results taking honourable second place among private institutions of higher education in Latvia!

Bachelor of Engineering Science in Aviation Transport (pilot)

Have you ever dreamed to be at the controls of an airplane? Sure you have… TSI allows you to realize your dream and get one of the most exciting professions in the world - the pilot of commercial aircrafts. However putting the romance aside, pilot is also one of the most highly paid and marketable occupations. There are not many educational institutions providing training for the commercial aviation, and Riga Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI) is one of the few. Just 4 years after enrolling in the program "Air Transport Flight Operations" you will receive the bachelor’s degree in engineering sciences and the commercial pilot license that allows you to be a co-pilot in the future and after 1,500 hours of flight practice become a captain of an aircraft. During Term 2, students are expected to pass medical examination. Should a student fail to pass said examination, he/she will have a possibility to continue studies in the specialty of an aeronautical engineer. Training of such specialists is conducted by the Academic and Professional Aviation Centre of TSI (APAC) whose activity is certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Training of specialists complies with the international standards in the field of civil aviation (ICAO). This is a unique opportunity! Graduates will obtain higher education and a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering as well as a commercial pilot licence (FROZEN ATPL CPL) which allows working as a pilot! Students will have flight training already in Term 2! Faculty of Transport and Logistics Student entry requirements: Age: at least 18 years old Education: Secondary or higher Physical Status: valid EASA 1st Class Medical Certificate; Theoretical preparation: knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, and English is of key importance. During the assessment the school and exam grades of these disciplines are evaluated additionally. A special skill assessment can be organized by the Institute for those having low or no grades from their secondary school.
