Introduction

As state university, FHWS offers degrees being recognised all over the world. FHWS offers a wide range of practice-oriented and future-oriented study programmes with more than 30 degree courses at ten faculties and five research institutes. Almost 9,000 students are enrolled in the faculties at the two locations in Würzburg and Schweinfurt which are less than 40km apart and located in the south of Germany.

Studying at FHWS is characterised by small study groups and a low student/teacher-ratio. By a great share of seminar papers students learn to work independantly. Additionally, project work promotes the students‘ team-working abilities. Almost 230 professors with solid professional experience from industry and business provide scientific education with special relevance to application and practice. Courses take place in modern lecture rooms and laboratories equipped with innovative technology and state of the art appliances. The university collaborates closely with regional and trans-regional businesses. Students benefit from this close collaboration by being able to do internships and by the possibility to write their bachelor‘s thesis in one of these companies.

Moreover, they have the chance of building a network for their future career. FHWS excels by its international orientation: For more than 20 years already the university welcomes students from over 40 countries. Worldwide FHWS is associated with more than 130 universities. Within its internationalisation strategy FHWS offers English-speaking bachelor‘s degrees starting with the winter semester 2014/15. All English degree courses are accompanied by cultural and language education courses so as to provide and promote the best possible integration of all international students.

The FHWS offers seven-semester Bachelor‘s degree courses as twin programs. Therefore you can choose between English or German as language of instruction. Thanks to the wide range of industry operating in the area and cooperations between the FHWS and industrial partners, students have good opportunities for practical semesters and theses. Students will be trained for a variety of professional areas, e.g. manufacturing companies, engineering offices, banks, insurance, consulting firms, commercial enterprises and public service. Our graduates benefit from excellent opportunities to start their careers, and will continue to have good prospects in the future. The combination of technical and non-technical study modules serves as the basis for both conventional and new fields: sales and marketing, logistics, materials management and purchasing, production and manufacturing, controlling, accounting, organisation, and data processing. Graduates benefits from a highly respected German engineering qualification, contacts within industry and excellent career prospects. The new international Bachelor programme prepares students for a career in an international business environment in Germany or abroad. Foreign students get to know the German culture and language while German students will be prepared professionally and culturally for a future job in an international company. During the first three semesters, basics of international management are taught, e.g. accounting, HR and finance. You can then decide whether you want to spend the fourth semester at one of our international partner universities or the fifth semester as an intern with a company abroad. Credits from our partner university will be accepted by FHWS. During the sixth and seventh semesters, theoretical and practical skills will be deepened in two majors and while the Bachelor's thesis is being written. The Bachelor’s Degree Course International Management can also be studied as a 8 semesters (4 years) Double Degree Programme. Please contact us for more information. The Bachelor in Logistics at FHWS opens the door to a wide range of possible careers. Your future task will be to secure the competitiveness of the enterprise you are working for by keeping inventory low while ensuring customer satisfaction by keeping delivery times short and by just-in-time delivery of ordered stock. The entire process of planning, arranging, supervising and checking the material, financial and information flow within the enterprise as well as in the whole supply chain between suppliers and customers is organized by logistics managers.
