Faculdade de Engenharia de Minas Gerais (FEAMIG)

Introduction

Read the Official Description

Created in 1962, the Faculty of Engineering of Minas Gerais - FEAMIG - is a national reference in the teaching of engineering. Currently, the college offers undergraduate courses in Engineering Surveying, Civil Engineering and Engineering Production and sensu post-graduation courses in Occupational Safety Engineering, Road Engineering, Quality Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Geo-referencing of Rural Property .

The College is maintained by the Educational Institute Cândida de Souza. Integrating teaching, scientific research and extension, FEAMIG provides its students a complete education, solidified in scientific, technological, administrative, humanistic, ethical and social knowledge. To this end, the Faculty has scientific initiation programs, tutoring, internships Center, Educational Guidance in addition to the course and Coordination Board, which coordinates the work of teachers and give supports to students. Train skilled professionals, able to develop viable solutions to the needs of the market and of society is the goal of FEAMIG.

In 2009 was published Recognition Renewal order of Surveying Engineering Course, in 2012, the Recognition Renewal order of the Production Engineering course. In 2013 it was published the ordinance Operating Permit Course of Civil Engineering, who obtained grade 4 by MEC.

The word originally means measuring surveying and demarcating land. However, the work of Engineer Surveyor is no longer restricted to agricultural territories, their field is very broad. The surveying is present in various branches of Engineering and the participation of the Surveyor Engineer is essential in many projects, from planning to the measurement of completion. The Engineer Surveyor is enabled to work in engineering companies, industries, construction industry, utilities and educational and research institutions. In heavy industry, surveying is a major monitoring tools and control of large structures, accurate positioning of parts and machines, quantification of deposits and monitoring of their production. The Surveyor Engineer is qualified for and treat data topom├ętricos surveys, geodetic, gravimetric, hydrological, hydrographic, photogrammetric, bathymetric and pictures. Prepares charts and topographical plans for infrastructure works, lawsuits, as an expert surveyor, demarcation of areas of environmental preservation, sanitation systems, irrigation and drainage, among other activities. Does the lease of civil works, transport, tunnels, pipelines, road geometry projects, rural and urban settlements, as well as their demarcation and division. Also works with discrimination, sharing land, georeferencing of rural and urban properties, surveys, skills, assessments, arbitrations. Monitors the physical space to build roads, railways, waterways, ports, airports, tunnels, underground mines, pipelines, dams, issues reports and technical advice, always signing up on ethics and safety. With the popularity of global positioning satellite technology and GIS, the Surveyor Engineer saw his work out of the activity that was not visible to the general public for a mass consumer product. Digital and GPS tracking maps become part of everyday life of people in their cars, on mobile, on leisure, in sports, in the news that are accompanied by the media location, in consultations over the Internet, and numerous other applications. Anyway, the latest technology valued and spread the Surveying Engineering in society. The course lasts a minimum of four years, with a workload of 3600 hours, including hours of compulsory traineeship and ACG (Graduate Complementary Activities). [-]

The Civil Engineering Course of FEAMIG aims at training the Civil Engineer by working with knowledge. [+]

Presentation The civil engineer works in the construction and industrial installation sectors. It is the professional that designs, manages and analyzes works in homes, buildings, highways, railways, airports, water supply systems and sanitation, ports, rivers, canals, dams, dikes, drainage, irrigation, bridges and other structures. His performance also includes analysis of soil and subsoil, audits and inspections, budgets, study insulation, ventilation and type setting foundations. Given this range of possibilities, the Civil Engineering Course of FEAMIG seeks to establish a strong foundation in mathematics and basic sciences, engineering tools, project management and production, and application of civil engineering technology. Plus a wide basic training, the course offers the possibility of concentration of studies in topography, geocoding and construction in general. Course Objectives The Civil Engineering Course of FEAMIG aims at training the Civil Engineer by working with knowledge. This training process has two components: one refers to the technical and scientific training, which is distinguished by the management and the development of knowledge, to the professional become capable of analyzing the reality, design and practice creative solutions; another is the socio-political training component inherent in the work process knowledge as a historical building, characterized by a humanistic and ecological orientation towards professional become able to participate and intervene in society. In order to achieve this purpose, the training pathway proposed aims: training in scientific fields of mathematics, physics and chemistry, with a view to a solid basic training on which is based the technology training in Civil Engineering; an overview of Engineering, which allows the professional to contextualize the problems addressed and situate their actions as well as identify specific training among the different types of engineering; the formation of specific Civil Engineer skills, with emphasis on topography, geocoding and construction in general; the incorporation of new information technologies and communication, with special attention to its use in Civil Engineering; social and ethical education of the civil engineer, so that it is able to combine science and technology, proposing ways to intervene in reality in order to ensure sustainable human development. Course Duration / Shifts The course is organized in six-month regimen of which is divided into 10 academic periods, semester, with total workload of 3840 hours of useful time-clock. Operating shifts are the day and the night and can be used in the event of need, other times. The night shift also includes the daytime on Saturdays. [-]
