Masterpieces of artists such Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo are only the highlights of an incredibly rich visual arts tradition that still is very present and a constant inspiration all over the city. Students of Drawing and Paintings master the fundamentals, vary materials and techniques, study color theory, and play with form, structure, proportion. The BFA program prepares students for professional careers in art, focusing on bidimensional art Drawing / Painting Track. This practice-based course develops the student's ability to express ideas through painting and drawing and is supported by an integrated theory program. This enables them to explore personal ideas, develop an artistic language and understand the cultural position of their work in relation to historical and contemporary painting starting from the European and the Italian styles and fundamentals. Florence and the Renaissance period are the ground for the exchange of ideas and for the independent thinking, arriving to consolidate sound intellectual and practical skills. The course is taught by practicing painters and theorists in excellent spacious studios, within a lively art school community. Internationally known visiting speakers enrich the curriculum. A critical approach to art in its social, historical, and cultural context complements students’ own creative work and process. Students learn to describe, analyze, and interpret the form and content of works of art, while examining the significant movements of Western art as well as the secular and sacred art of Asia, Africa, and the Americas. At the same time, students acquire an array of techniques for their own artistic self-expression, ranging from two and three-dimensional design, to computer graphics and web design, photography, painting, and sculpture. Classes are small and involve close work with our professors, and students benefit from a wealth of opportunities to view historic and contemporary art in a Budapest, a major European art center.
