Modeller - Professional Training Program

IED – Istituto Europeo di Design Venice
Campus Full time 2 years October 2017 Italy Venice

One of the key ingredients for the supremacy conquered by Italy in the fashion can no doubt be attributed to the skill of his model makers, the real heart of the planning process that led to the creation of a collection. The pattern is in fact the figure that the company interprets and puts on paper the ideas of the designer, translating a graphic in a project (the pattern) ready to be transferred onto the fabric, a professional able to manage the process that goes from until the tailoring of the prototype. The course promoted by IED Venice aims to train these valuable resources, through a course that relies on a central role in the design, the project, the development of the traditional pattern and the use of CAD technology, techniques tailored to the realization of prototype. For this reason, from an educational point of view, the theoretical disciplines will be supplemented by laboratory activities, guiding the students in acquiring the technical skills necessary to create and get to effectively present its final portfolio. [+]

THIS PROGRAM 'TAUGHT IN ITALIAN The program is divided into four semesters, for a total duration of two years, each with specific objectives. The first year of the Pattern Making Course - Professional Training Program is dedicated to the acquisition of basic training of specific cultural references on the evolution of the history of fashion, tissue technology and their recognition, project methodology, the basics of modeling, the tailoring techniques, use of sewing machines. During the second year, however, the student acquires awareness and competencies in specific professional areas. The project activities are supported by the study of technical disciplines such as the development of the pattern with CAD technology and deepening in the field of tailoring techniques, processing bases of the model and the technique of moulage. The teaching method is adopted for inclusion in the professional world, through direct design and construction of the prototype. On an annual basis and in conformity with the teachings of the training, students have the chance to experience the skills acquired during workshops in the form of workshops and then confronted with different methods and reality. At the end of the course students will have acquired the basic technical skills appropriate to develop a fashion project starting from conception until the three-dimensional development of the project.
