Bachelors 2017 in Bergamo Italy. OBJECTIVES Why choose a Bachelor degree course in Philosophy at the University of Bergamo? To evaluate critically the reality (as distinct from the appearances) of the society we live in, and to interrogate rather than merely undergo the images we encounter To investigate the sources and forms of the knowledge that has been built up in our tradition To develop the argumentative skills needed to face both abstract and concrete problems. The study of Philosophy provides important tools for current public debates, from the growing pressure to face the issues of contemporary life to the urgent need to find bases on which different cultures can be compared. The first year of study is given over to institutional and propedeutic courses that furnish students with the elements for understanding the various aspects and tendencies within philosophical thought, considered both in a historical light and for the specifics of its contents; the next two years offer options for specialisation (historicaltheoretical-epistemological, logico-linguistic, ethico-political). The teaching style adopts a didactic model that has been tried and tested in European universities and that, in addition to lectures, envisages seminars and laboratories aimed at stimulating the oral and written skills of individual participants. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES The opportunities in the world of work opened up by Philosophy Degree courses include the various sectors in which an arts education is linked with the ability to use critical, interpretive and operative skills. The Philosophy graduate offers a flexible professional profile, able to specialise in various fields of public administration (from personnel direction to human resource management) and in the world of publishing and communication, both traditional and multimedia.
