In today’s society, bio- and environmental engineering stands with many questions at the heart of the public interest because, in our highly industrialized and densely populated world, the consumption of raw materials, energy reserves, water and air will inevitably become a burden to the environment. Bio- and environmental engineering is therefore there to minimize these pressures at their source and to develop environmentally friendly plants. The ecological development of new products and the use of the available resources build up the priorities of the scientific debate in the course "Bio- and Environmental Engineering." The course qualifies its graduates for activities in the biotechnology and environmental technology. Plan of study Subjects such as mathematics, general chemistry and biochemistry, microbiology, statistics and physics predominate in the first semesters of BEE. As specialisation, you will find lectures on the subject analytical chemistry, simulation of biotechnological plants, pollution control and water hygiene as well as soil and water pollution control. While the courses "Energy and Building Systems Engineering Technology" and "EGTiP" predominantly gear towards the national labour market, BEE accounts for the internationalisation of the labour market. English language skills (for German speaking students) and German language skills (for students with other native languages) in the module languages and two specialized courses in English are offered in this study program. The course may of course be fully studied in Wolfenbüttel. It is also possible however, to acquire a foreign graduate degree parallel to the German degree through an integrated stay abroad at one of our partner universities in Spain, Finland and Norway. Students obtain the qualification for managerial positions, above all in medium-sized companies, which require a combination of legal as well as economic competence at the same time and from only one person. Co-operations with companies in the region during projects and a practical placement make it possible for the graduates to start work on a managerial level without further training measures. The close interconnection of legal and economic contents guarantees a high level of knowledge concerning economic practice which is additionally enriched with the help of key-qualifications (for example with foreign languages, communication trainings, Information technology).
