There are two options in pursuing a degree in education at Medicine Hat College. Mount Royal University, Bachelor of Education at MHC Medicine Hat College, in partnership with Mount Royal University, offers a degree completion program that can be completed in Medicine Hat. This new partnership includes two years of study for degree completion and teacher certification with a focus on elementary education after you have completed the first two years of the B.Ed. Elementary program (60 credits). University Transfer Education For those interested in starting their studies at Medicine Hat College and completing their degree at another institution, our University Transfer Education program offers students the opportunity to study at MHC for up to two years and transfer to a variety of post-secondary institutions in Lethbridge, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, and Regina. Practicum Students should be aware that under the Protection for Persons in Care Act (January 1998) you will be required to provide a current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search as well as an Alberta Children's Services Intervention Record Check to the school jurisdiction in which you are placed for each teaching practicum or field experience. Student teachers are responsible for the cost of obtaining this documentation and ensuring it is provided to school jurisdictions requiring it, and a copy provided to the Education Advisor prior to the start of the first field experience. It is also recommended that you possess a current Emergency or Standard First Aid Certificate and that Health Immunization Records are up to date. Admission Requirements High School Alberta High School Courses or equivalents with a minimum 60% average in the required courses.
