Bachelor Business of Fashion This 4-year course aims to create a manager of creativity and creative manager: somebody who can convert a vision into a business model and develop it efficiently. It is about reconceiving the idea of business by developing cultural and creative skills on one side, economic and managerial on the other, and forming an all-round figure for the current fashion industry. Business of Fashion covers three main areas of study. The first is Vision: in-depth research into fashion and social trends that will stand the student in good stead when deciding which direction to take in the future. Next, Business: the implementation and management of different business models, both conventional and unconventional. Lastly there is Communication: analysing, creating or restoring a brand identity and communicating a concept at different levels, whether it is written, visual or integrated. At the end of the course, students will have gained the knowledge required to manage everything from a single business to a whole fashion brand. DESCRIPTION In the first year the course focuses on the basics of business, marketing, management and communication in the fashion sector, also considering its cultural and creative aspects. In the second year, it looks at the global trends and how creative thinking can become business.
The third year is already at Master’s level: here students learn how to produce, merchandise, distribute and communicate a fashion product. Advanced communication skills, brand management skills, art directing skills such as setting a trend, building up a brand persona and connecting through style as well as creating a sense of leadership, complete the fourth year. Throughout this 4 year course, students will take language, cultural and tutorial courses, attend guest lectures and field trips, prepare two technical projects per year to build a portfolio, and complete a period of work experience in a Fashion Company at the end of the course. HOW TO APPLY The course is open to candidates with secondary-school diplomas or equivalent. English language is required (written & spoken). Candidates will be selected after completion of a written test and interview with the Head of Department. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Based on the student’s personal aptitudes and the skills acquired, the course qualifies candidates for all kinds of jobs relative to the fashion brand (Product Manager, Merchandiser, Marketing Manager, Brand Manager), agencies (Copywriter, Account, Art Director, Trend Forecaster, Communication Manager), the press (Editor, Writer, Illustrator), to be a freelance Project Manager, or entrepreneur in the fashion luxury field.
