At ORU a vocation in biology is seen as a God-ordained calling into the study of the wonders of His creation. The biology major meets the needs of students who desire to: - Acquire a technical background in the life sciences - Pursue graduate work in biology - Train for work in industry and government - Prepare for professional training in medical schools and other health professions - Prepare to major or minor in secondary education The Biology Major at ORU offers three areas of concentration: Pre-Medical Emphasis, Health Professions Emphasis and Environmental Science Emphasis. Pre-Medical Emphasis and Health Professionals Emphasis Admission to medical, dental and most other health profession schools in the United States is very selective. Only students with excellent grades, admission test scores, knowledge of their health profession and, in most cases, health care experience are admitted. ORU offers several pre-professional programs in the health sciences including pre-medical, pre-dentistry, pre-optometry, pre-veterinary, pre-pharmacy, pre-physical therapy and pre-sports medicine. Over 300 of our alumni are practicing physicians throughout the United States.
