OBJECTIVES The objective of the course is to train engineers who will work with medical staff to provide patients with more effective treatments, based on the use of innovative technologies. This professional is also able to organize and make efficient use of technological tools for patient care and assistance. The training in basic sciences and engineering is integrated with courses in biomedical engineering, pathophysiology, and psychology as well as courses in social issues related to the use of new technologies in medicine. In the final phase of the course an internship is carried out at hospitals and at research centers, in the Bergamo area, that are already collaborating with the University of Bergamo and that participate in the management of the training objectives of the course. Graduates of this course will be able to address the issues related to health processes, organization and management of biomedical technologies. They will also know the biological principles, problems due to pathological conditions and the main diagnostic tools used in the clinical setting. They will know how to assess the impact of new technologies in medicine and to manage the related innovation process. They will also be able to verify compliance with the regulations in manufacturing and use of medical devices and artificial organs. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES The Bachelor Degree in Technology Engineering for Health aims to provide the skills required for a wide range of roles in biomedical industry, in the field of biomedical and clinical research, in systems dedicated to patient care and assistance.
